Gina Ming Ging Luo and David William Watt have announced their engagement to be married Oct. 6 in Monterey.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Susan Tan Luo of San Francisco and Frank Luo of Pleasant Hill. She is a graduate of Carondelet High School and has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She is self-employed as a consultant to high-tech companies.

The groom-to-be is the son of William and Bethel Watt of Los Altos.

He graduated from Los Altos High School and has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles. He is employed as an account manager at Spotfire.

Harry and Carmen Sforzini

Harry and Carmen Sforzini, native Californians and lifelong residents of the Los Altos-Mountain View-Sunnyvale area, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with more than 150 family members and friends, at dinner and dance reception at Michael’s of Shoreline.

Their daughters, Sharon and husband Steven Grant of Chevy Chase, Md., and Charlotte Ann and husband Joseph Arton of Alamo, arranged the celebration. The Sforzinis have three grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Classmates at Fremont High School in the mid-1930s, the couple married after a six-year courtship.

Harry is a past president and lifetime member of the Kiwanis Club in Mountain View, past director of the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce and life member of the Elks Club of Palo Alto. Carmen, an avid gardener, is past president of the Quadalco Club of Mountain View.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
