Everyone in the family may find something to please them at the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce’s 10th annual Celebrate Los Altos Fall Festival, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 6 and 7. The event is held every year in the Plaza South parking lot between First and Third streets.

More than 160 artisans will display their finest paintings, sculptures, ceramics, jewelry, textiles and other decorative holiday items in this year’s fund-raiser for the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce.

The festival will include the Chef’s Galley, a cooking demonstration tent featuring regional celebrity chefs preparing their specialty dishes.

The chefs include Noah Cooper of Z restaurant, Jon Hall of MacArthur Park, Gary Roth of Los Altos Golf and Country Club, Juan Bailon of Vive Sol, Jamie Carpenter of Jocco’s and Steve Castronovo of Draeger’s Culinary Center.

The Classic Car Show will feature more than 100 automobiles predating 1969 as well as an exhibition of pre-1976 cars that are for sale. Local restaurants will dish up culinary favorites, and microbrews and fine wines will be available.

Children and their parents can participate in the Scarecrow Contest or walk down Children’s Alley, where a variety of youth-oriented activities will keep them enthralled. Local schools benefit from the proceeds of the interactive games they provide in the Children’s Alley.

Festival entertainment features everything from the acoustic blues of Felonius Smith to the popular dance music of Sweet Relief.

Sponsors include Bank of America, Conditioned Air, Sprint Broadband, San Jose Mercury News, KARA, Kruse International/eBay Auction, American Express Tax & Business Services, Bank of Los Altos, Viplex Industries, Dacor and McPhails Appliances.

Admission and parking are free. For more information, call the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce at 948-1455.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
