THE BUS BARN STAGE COMPANY BENEFIT, LOS ALTOS FOLLIES”: The unique stage company event, held in the big, white tent with a black-tie optional “Gala Opening Night” performance and party, is scheduled Oct. 12, including “pre- and post-” receptions, and Oct. 13 when two regular performances will be held, with a continuous reception before, during and after both performances.

The “Follies” is a musical parody featuring 10 local singers. It pokes fun at local, state and national newsmakers. producer/director Vicki Reeder and Chet Frankenfield wrote the original lyrics.

Three shows are scheduled: the Gala at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 12, and at 7 and 8:15 p.m., Oct. 13.

For information, call Roy Lave at 948-8920.

A TOUR AND LOCAL HISTORY BOOKS: What’s in store for all to enjoy in the lovely new Los Altos History Museum? Local history can come alive after a tour of the History Museum and a visit to the museum store. A variety of local history books and wonderful and informative collections can be purchased.

Did you know that groups and individuals are able to rent space at the museum for special events? The large garden area under the oaks, main floor exhibit room and the state-of-the-art kitchen are available on an hourly basis. Proceeds benefit the Association of the Los Altos Historical Museum.

Admission is now free for all visitors during normal museum hours. Also, volunteers are needed. Call 948-9427 or Marion Grimm at 948-4042.

COMEDY IN THE PARK: With warm weather and a perfect setting at Shoup Park, the Los Altos Bus Barn Stage Company’s “Comedy of Errors” was amusing and enjoyable! The audience was delighted with Shakespeare’s play, good entertainment and talented actors, good company and chatter, the relaxed atmosphere and picnic snacks and dinner. Thanks to Betty Lohman for making it all possible!

A VERY GOOD THING!: Seville Contempo real estate agent, Judy Bogard-Tanigami recently celebrated her second wedding anniversary with Hide. Happy Anniversary to the handsome couple.

HANDCRAFTED WOODEN BOWLS: Beautiful, natural grained and uniquely shaped colored bowls by artist Jim Mikkelsen were recently on display and for sale at the Kings Mountain Art Fair in Woodside.

It was so nice to see such talent by someone from our hometown. The bowls would be a “conversation piece” in our homes. Call 965-4170.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
