By Little Acorn School celebrates anniversary

Little Acorn School, a preschool and day-care center located at 1667 Miramonte Ave., Mountain View, has scheduled an anniversary celebration 2-5 p.m., Sept. 15. The event will be held at the Wooding Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View at the same location. For more information, call Brigitta or Josephina at 964-8445.

Local bands perform with Dallas Brass

Music students from Mountain View and Gunn high schools have scheduled a concert featuring the six-piece brass and percussion ensemble Dallas Brass, 7:30 p.m., tomorrow, at the Gunn High School auditorium.

Tickets, available at the door, are $10 for adults and $5 for students. For more information, call Robin Kramer at 940-4647.

Learning disability symposium

The Kitty Petty Attention Deficit Disorders and Learning Differences Institute has scheduled its annual symposium, “Choices, changes & challenges: Improving work, home and school interpersonal relationships,” 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 13, at the Foothill Christian Center, 2420 N. We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
