The 12th annual Los Altos Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament attracted 144 golfers to the Los Altos Golf & Country Club on Aug. 13.

“Friendly competition, generous sponsors, perfect weather and one of the most spectacular settings in the region all combined to make this one of our most successful tournaments,” said Sam Pesner, who co-chaired the event with Steve Shepherd.

The hole-in-one prizes - a BMW Z3 roadster donated by Allison BMW and a Rolex watch donated by Gleim Jewelers - went unclaimed, but there were plenty of winners.

First place honors in the scramble format went to the golf team of Manuel Lozano, Phil White, Dan Francis and Steve Hynding. The second-place scramble foursome included Tom Baenziger, Stan Poitras, Bill Moison and Jerry Moison.

Bob Farney and Colin Parker captured top honors in the two-person best ball category, while Pat Farrell and his son Jeff Farrell took second.

The Longest Drive prizes went to Terry Beal and Wanda Whitaker. John Radford won the Closest to the Pin contest. The $5,000 prizes for sinking a winning ball in the putting and chipping contests went unclaimed.

The awards reception in the clubhouse dinning room included a silent auction and prize drawings. Items earning top bids included opportunities to stay in vacation homes in Maui (donated by chamber ambassador Barbara Roark of Campi Properties) and Arizona (donated by chamber chairwoman Pasty Ouye of Bank of Los Altos).

Funds raised by this event are used to support chamber and community programs.

Bank of Los Altos was the major corporate sponsor of the event, along with four hosting corporate sponsors - Armadillo Willy’s BBQ, Chef Chu’s, The Pasta Markets, and Legacy Capital California.

Other corporate sponsors included American Express Tax & Business Services, Alain Pinel Realtors, Glaze Capital Management, Los Altos Garbage Company, Los Altos Golf Company, Los Altos Optometric Group, Lozano Brushless Car Wash, Moison Investment Company, North American Title Company and Rambus, Inc.
