The Rev. Malcolm C. Young will be welcomed at his new parish, the Christ Episcopal Church in Los Altos, at its second annual Square Dance and Chili Cook-Off on Welcoming Sunday, Sept. 9.
Church members encourage the community to come and greet their new rector and his family at the Parish Hall festivities following the 10:15 a.m. worship service.
“Malcolm Young is an extraordinarily gifted and spiritual leader. Our congregation is excited about his arrival and ministry among us. We are looking forward to introducing the entire community to Malcolm, his wife Heidi Kaleimomi Ho, and their children - 2-year-old Micah and 4-month-old Melia - on Welcoming Sunday,” said Rick Bell, senior warden at Christ Church.
Everyone is invited to join in some easy square dancing under the direction of professional caller Charlie Brown.
Those attending are also encouraged to sample the many varieties of chili prepared by the chefs of Christ Church service organizations.
Sign-ups will be available for all service organizations, children’s Sunday school classes and junior- and senior-high youth groups.
Young is currently completing his doctorate in theology at Harvard University. He grew up in Davis and received his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1989.
Christ Episcopal Church is located at 1040 Border Road.
