Family disturbance

August 8, 8:54 p.m., Manresa Lane: A caller reported a family disturbance.

Gunshots heard

Aug. 8, 10:21 p.m., Marshall Court and Fallen Leaf Lane: A caller reported hearing possible gunfire.

Hit and run

Aug. 9, 9:29 a.m., Cuesta Drive and El Monte Avenue: A caller reported a hit-and-run accident that resulted in a downed power line. There were no reported injuries.

Malicious mischief

Aug. 10, 8:23 a.m., Louise Lane: A caller reported vandalism that had apparently occurred overnight.

Disturbance

Aug. 12, 12:05 a.m., Foothill Expressway and Arboretum Drive: An officer stopped a motorist suspected of driving while intoxicated.

Suspicious person

Aug. 12, 2:05 a.m., El Camino Real: A caller reported seeing a suspicious person in a dumpster, breaking glass.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
