The Los Altos-based Covington Swim Team placed second out of six teams in the West Bay Swim League Championships, held July 28 at Sequoia High in Redwood City.

The highlight of the meet was Covington’s Lindsay Tice breaking the league record in the girls 13-14 division 50-yard butterfly by nearly a second.

Sean Thivierge placed in three boys 13-14 events: the 50 fly (second); freestyle (third); and 50 backstroke (third).

Ginny Tice, Lindsay’s sister, earned second-place honors in both the girls 13-14 50 back and 50 fly.

Other Covington swimmers to place in multiple events included Zack Hoberg in boys 9-10 (second 50 back, third 50 fly), Audrey Kuan in girls 9-10 (first 50 back, third 50 free) and Luke Power in boys 7-8 (second 25 free and 25 fly). In the girls 6-and-under division, Rachel Fish prevailed in the 25 free and 25 breaststroke, while Shannon Jones took third in both the 25 free and 25 fly.

In addition, Catherine Pooley won the girls 13-14 breast.

The day after the meet, the Covington Swim Team held its annual awards banquet.
