Peninsula Youth Theater’s production of “Grease” runs through Sunday at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

Cast members from Los Altos include Lori Ann Bibat, Doreen Bloch, Angela Chen, Michelle DeLateur, Gregory and Jennifer Guedj, Scott Hayman, Janel Healy, Daniel Hurst, Nana Kanzaveli, A.J. McGillis, Justin Stegner, Anna Stern and Stefany Wilcox.

Mountain View residents in the cast include Lizzie Adelman, Heather Anderson, Andrew, Custer, Christopher Custer, Jamie Evans, Rebecca Grogan, Ben Halstead, Chip Kraemer and Lauren Lea.

“Grease,” a musical offering a nostalgic look at 1950s high school life, is directed by Bernadette Fife, with choreography by Jayne Zaban and vocal direction by Chris Nielsen.

Show times are 1 and 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m., Sunday. Tickets are $12-$14, with a $5 discount for Friday matinees.

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
