July 26, 2:29 a.m., Tyndall Street: A caller reported someone banging on an outside door.

Telephone Harassment

July 26, 1:22 p.m., El Camino Real: A caller reported receiving harassing telephone calls.

Family disturbance

July 26, 10:41 p.m., Kingswood Way: A caller reported a family disturbance.

Grand theft

July 27, 8:35 a.m., Homestead Court: A caller reported a tire theft that apparently took place sometime during the night.

Medical call

July 27, 11:03 a.m., Casita Way: The caller reported a resident who had possibly suffered a stroke.

Suspicious circumstances

July 27, 7:36 p.m., Fremont Avenue: A caller reported a possible attempted break-in. Police later said the report was unfounded.

Person down

July 28, 7:42 a.m., University Avenue and Burke Road:

Police found a woman slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle.

The subject said she was “just resting.”

Warrant Stop

July 28, 1:27 p.m., St. Joseph Avenue and Knollwood Lane:

Police arrested a driver on an outside-agency warrant and also cited the subject for driving on a suspended license.

Welfare check

July 28, 3:24 p.m., Oakhurst Avenue: A caller from Southern California requested a welfare check on an elderly couple.

The call, which was out of police jurisdiction, was referred to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
