Nick Spangler of Los Altos has been cast in “West Side Story,” a Children’s Musical Theater production running through Sunday at the Montgomery Theater in downtown San Jose.

Spangler plays Riff of the New York gang the Jets.

Set in 1950s Manhattan, “West Side Story,” has been described as a modern “Romeo & Juliet.”

It tells of love and warfare between youthful Puerto Rican and American gangs of the streets of New York.

The story revolves around Tony, a young Polish-American, who has outgrown but cannot quite leave a street gang, and Maria, a beautiful Puerto Rican girl.

Tickets are $15 adults, $11 children 12 and under.
