The Eagle Alumni Committee of the now defunct Mountain View Union High School announced their annual Alumni Day get-together is scheduled for 9 a.m., Oct. 6, at Cuesta Park in Mountain View.

Although closed in 1981, “Eagle” nostalgia, close alumni ties and fond memories live on.

Alumni Day bridges the gap between the old and the new, melding generations of families who have been the backbone and spirit of Mountain View’s historic past as well as present. Since class reunions are few and far between, Alumni Day fills in the gaps. The reunion is for all 57 classes graduated from the Mountain View Union High School District.

However, open invitations are extended to the Mountain View City Council, the public, current Mountain View and Los Altos High School and former Awalt alumni, along with teachers past and present.

Music, dancing and a raffle will highlight the free event.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
