By Andrea Tavenier of Los Altos graduated from the University of California at Davis with a bachelor's degree in English and sociology.

She has been accepted as a dean’s scholar at McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento.

Eileen Marie O’Brien and Maura Anne O’Brien of Los Altos Hills and Kathryn Marie Jorgensen of Los Altos have been named to the spring quarter dean’s honors list at the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Eric Basart of Los Altos graduated with honors from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with a bachelor’s degree in dramatic writing.

Jennafer Gayle Groswith of Los Altos graduated from Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, Texas, with a doctor’s degree in law.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
