By Diana J. Walleigh of Los Altos graduated from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa., with a bachelor's degree in English.

Daniel Wayne Nelson of Los Altos and Jonathan Thomas Harrington of Los Altos Hills graduated from Duke University. Nelson graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology, Harrington with a bachelor’s degree in English.

Andrew Wu of Los Altos and Neal J. Yung of Los Altos Hills were named to the spring semester dean’s list at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Andrew Wright Flautt of Los Altos graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz with a bachelor’s degree in film and digital media.

David Shur of Los Altos graduated from Whitman College, in Walla Walla, Wash., with a bachelor’s degree in music.

Tommy Williams of Los Altos has been accepted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. He will be honored at a ceremony in the fall at the University of California at Berkeley.

Matthew Roomel of Los Altos graduated from Santa Clara University with a bachelor’s degree in business marketing.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
