Local residents Colin Mason and Will O’Leary played on Northern California Select lacrosse teams that traveled to Colorado last month to compete in a national tournament.

Los Altos resident Mason played for the under-15 team, while O’Leary of Los Altos Hills played for the under-13 team. Both teams were coached by Colin’s father, Marty Mason.

In total, 46 young players represented Northern California at the Lax World Colorado Tournament in Denver.

Both teams finished near the middle of the final rankings in their respective divisions.

NorCal teams won games against Illinois, Michigan and Utah, fought to close losses against Denver, Minnesota and Colorado and scored 10 goals in their games with top teams Long Island and Virginia.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
