Someone was allegedly in possession of a controlled substance at Los Altos High School, police said.

Forgery

June 22, 9:38 a.m., Rancho Shopping Center:

Police said someone had counterfeit money.

Illegal dumping

June 23, 7:21 p.m., Grant Road:

Police said someone was possibly dumping oil containers illegally near St. Simon school.

Hit & run

June 21, 1:50 a.m., Santa Rita and West Portola avenues:

Police reported a hit and run accident. There were property damages but no injuries.

Malicious mischief

June 19, 7:39 a.m., San Luis Avenue:

A caller told police someone had toilet papered power poles and lines sometime during the previous night.

Prowler

June 20, 3:46 a.m., Covington Road:

A caller told police there was a prowler.

Noise complaint

June 15, 11:06 p.m., Parsons Way:

A caller told police there was a loud party nearby.

Loitering

June 24, 1:24 p.m., El Camino Real and Jordan Avenue:

A caller told police that day workers were loitering.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
