Mahesh Srinivasan, an 18-year Los Altos resident, will give his debut performance in South Indian classical vocal music at 7 p.m., Saturday, at Cubberley Theater, 4000 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.

Admission to the concert is free.

Srinivasan has studied music for the past 12 years under the guidance of Jayashree Varadarajan, the founder/director of Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandir School of Fine Arts in Sunnyvale.

Srinivasan, who graduated from Homestead High School earlier this month, will be accompanied by Balaji Srinivasan (violin) and Natarajan Srinivasan (mridangam).

Srinivasan’s talents do not solely lie in the field of music, however. This year he was named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist, Governor’s scholar, Governor’s distinguished Math and Science Scholar and a University of California Regent Scholar. He is a tutor in the Peer Tutorial program at Homestead, co-founded the Social Commentary and Political Satire Club at his school and played varsity tennis. He has also taught Hindu culture for the past three years at the Chinmaya Mission Cultural School in Los Altos. Mahesh will attend Stanford University in the fall.
