By Coaches wanted

Los Altos High is looking for several coaches for the next school year. The Eagles need a girls varsity basketball coach, a junior varsity girls water polo coach and assistants for varsity football (line coach) and track and field (shot put/discus). Sports cars

The Palo Alto Concours d’ Elegance, an annual car show benefiting Stanford University athletics and Lion’s Club charities, is set for Sunday, outside Stanford Stadium on El Camino Real. The event expects to draw some of the finest restored automobiles in the country, spanning every era from brass-radiator cars built before World War I to the muscle cars of the 1960s and ’70s. Several Los Altos and Los Altos Hills residents plan on showing their cars. Gates open at 7:30 a.m., judging, starts at 10 a.m. and the award presentation begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and free for children under 12 accompanied by an adult. PA sports camp

The Palo Alto Sports Camp is offering three two-week sessions for students entering grades 3-7. The camp runs 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays, July 2 through Aug. 2 at Gunn High. There will be instruction in basketball, flag football, track and field, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, swimming, tennis and more. The staff is made up of graduates of Palo Alto and Gunn highs. Biking for a cause

The Silicon Valley Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society holds its 14th annual MS Back to the Beach Tour on Saturday. The event offers cyclists 25-, 50- or 100-mile routes. They cater to the cyclists’ needs the entire way with breakfast, rest stops and a finish line barbecue and celebration. Cyclists collect pledges for completing their chosen course, with the money raised going toward the funding of research projects, as well as local programs for people with MS. Volunteers are also needed to register bikers, and to help setup and cleanup. For information, or to register, call (408) 988-7557.

Get ship-shape

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary offers a boating skills and seamanship class starting July 2 at the Mountain View Senior Center, 266 Escuela St. Learn boat handling, safety and legal requirements, aids to navigation, weather, trailering, knots and line handling, engines and navigation rules. The 13-session class will meet 7-9 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays. Instruction is free, but textbook and materials cost $40. Swim signups

Los Altos-Mountain View Aquatics Club, certified by U.S. Swimming, is offering a summer swim program for ages 6-18. Sessions are 4-4:45 p.m. weekdays, at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills.
