The Mountain View High School Drama Department presents its annual Café Night at 8 p.m., Friday, on the school campus.
The evening begins with a performance of “Man and God.” Director Nelle Smith, a junior, describes it as “a comedy with intellectual humor.” Over a dinner conversation, a man (played by Samson Lahti Parsel) and God (Hannah Dibner) question religion in today’s society. The one-act play also features Chelsea Berthoud as a waitress.
Next on the agenda is Neil Simon’s “Visitor from London,” directed by junior Shefali Nagrani. Taking place in a hotel suite in Hollywood, the play centers around Diana Nichols (Sarah Goodwin), a young woman who has been nominated for an Academy Award.
The romantic comedy depicts the actress’ excitement and anxiety before the ceremony, as well as her devastation afterward. Clayton Goff plays the role of Sidney Nichols.
Closing the evening is the improvisation game Comedy Cup, in which drama students go head-to-head as on television’s “Whose Line is it Anyway?”
Café Night will be held outdoors at Mountain View High, 3535 Truman Ave.
Tickets, which will be sold at the door, are $8 for adults and students and $6 for children under 12 and for Mountain View students with ASB cards. The price of admission includes a drink and dessert.
