By Foothill hosts Career and Job Fair today

Foothill College has scheduled its annual Career and Job Fair, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., today, in the Library Quad of the Los Altos Hills campus. Admission is free. The public is invited to attend. Parking lots 1, 3 and 5 provide easy access to the Library Quad. Campus visitors must purchase a parking permit for $2. For more information, call 949-7229.

National teacher training at Foothill

The National Teacher Training Institute has scheduled a conference and workshop, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., June 2, at Foothill College, Los Altos Hills. The conference will focus on providing Bay Area K-8 teachers with strategies for implementing multimedia technology in the classroom. Teen culinary program graduation

The El Cajon Project, a culinary arts program aimed at keeping at-risk students in school, has scheduled a dinner to honor this year’s South Bay area graduates, 6-9 p.m., June 5, at Michael’s at Shoreline, Mountain View. For more information call Betty Ewing, 960-8897.

Los Altos summer school openings

Space is still available in the Los Altos Summer School Enrichment Programs for students grades 2-7.

Summer school begins June 25 and ends July 20. Registration forms are available at the Los Altos School District office, 201 Covington Road.

MVHS to hold carnival for kids

Mountain View High School has scheduled an exciting “Kids Karnival” noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, on the football field.

The family event, geared for children 3-12, will feature face painting, ring toss, jumpy toys, food, assorted games and much more. The MVHS student body is sponsoring the carnival to contribute to the local community.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
