By Le Boulanger 20-year celebration

Le Boulanger Inc. will celebrate 20 years in business next month.

The first Le Boulanger bread and bakery was opened in Los Altos in June 1981, by Roger and Dan Brunello. Another 21 locations have since opened in the Bay Area.

The Brunellos’ father Paul started the tradition in 1922 when he opened a small retail and home delivery bakery in the lumber town of Weed. Le Boulanger Inc. remains a family-owned business with headquarters in Sunnyvale.

Le Boulanger continues Brunello’s commitment to the community by donating breads to charities. It has won numerous awards, prizes and honors for creating and merchandising its popular Sourdough French Bread.

In Our Opinion

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
