This is a busy week for Peninsula Youth Theatre, which is set to open two productions: “The Importance of Being Earnest” and “Once On This Island.”
“Earnest” plays Thursday through Sunday at PYT studios, 2500 Middlefield Way, Mountain View, while “Island” runs Friday through May 13 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts., 500 Castro St.
A comedy by Oscar Wilde, “Earnest” will be directed by Lisa Lennox and features local teens in all roles. Show times are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 2 p.m., Sunday. Tickets are $8.

The Broadway musical “Island” is about love and loss in the Caribbean. The acclaimed show by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (”Ragtime,” “Anastasia”) also features local teens in all roles. It will be directed by Kristin Walter and choreographed by Chrissy Brown, with vocal direction John Lehrack.
Show times are set for 7:30 p.m., Fridays, 1 and 7:30 p.m., Saturdays, and 1 p.m., Sundays. Tickets are $12-$14. There also will be weekday matinees at 9:30 a.m., Friday and May 11, with tickets discounted to $5.
