The Mountain View-Los Altos High School Foundation reached its 2000-2001 fund-raising goal of more than $200,000. Parents and residents donated to the fund.

The gift will be given to the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District in May, said Superintendent Rich Fischer.

The money raised is going to provide financial support for the tutorial, and college/career centers. The money will also help refurbish the new libraries with current reference material, to purchase science and technology hardware and software, and to provide computer support.

The foundation was formed in 1982 in order to provide financial support for the educational programs the district could no longer fund.

Another highlight of this year’s fund-raising has been an anonymous donation given in the form of a $200,000 grant to the district. This grant helps provide scholarships to graduating seniors who would otherwise not be able to attend college due to financial constraints. The foundation is currently reviewing applications for this year’s graduating class.

The Foundation has set its goal at $210,000 for the 2001-2002 school year and is currently accepting donations. Contributions may be made payable to the MV-LA High School Foundation, P.O. Box 1146, Los Altos 94023. For more information, call President Pat Hedden, 948-3597.
