Community Impact, the non-profit leader for flexible and fulfilling volunteerism throughout the Bay Area, recently announced the appointments of Mary Matthiesen as executive director and Hilary Valentine as a new member of the board of directors. In addition, Community Impact has relocated its headquarters to Mountain View.
Matthiesen was executive director of the American Heart Association’s North Bay Region. She brings both a corporate and a non-profit perspective to Community Impact, with her 10-year background in sales and communications with McGraw-Hill and Sola Syntex, and in non-profit management with the California Transplant Donor Network and the AHA.
“Volunteer opportunities changed the direction of my life and focused my for-profit skills on my passion for community service,” Matthiesen said. “I look forward to expanding CI’s offerings and partnerships, which leverage the capacity of our volunteers to better meet the needs facing the Bay Area.”
New board member Valentine brings more than a decade of Silicon Valley business experience. Her career includes marketing positions at major technology companies, such as CBT Systems and Cisco Systems. She is currently a partner, in charge of business development, at Black & White Design.
“The addition of Mary and Hilary brings new energy and expertise to Community Impact,” said Daryl Messinger, Community Impact board president.
Community Impact, founded in 1988, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen Bay Area communities. For more information, call 965-0242.
