REI, Recreational Equipment Inc., is putting on a Paddlesports Demo Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, at Shoreline Lake in Mountain View. Paddlers of all abilities are invited to test their skills on the water with canoes and kayaks provided by manufacturers, which will have representatives on hand to lend their knowledge and expertise. Cost is $5 for unlimited test rides; kids under 16 may paddle canoes and tandem kayaks for free with a paying adult. For more information, call REI at (510) 527-7377.

Sports camp signups

Registration has begun for the 16th annual Golden Eagle Summer Swim & Sports Camp, which runs June 18 through Aug. 3 at Los Altos and Homestead highs. The camp is operated by Monica Lodge, Los Altos athletic director and physical education teacher, and Nelson Lodge, USSA licensed soccer coach and P.E. teacher. Classes include swimming, water polo, softball, basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, field hockey, gymnastics, soccer, tennis, golf, wrestling and dance. Camp is for children ages 5-14. Fees range from $90 to $290 per week, depending on program. For more information, call 947-9618.

The Los Altos Tennis Club is forming USTA teams for the spring season. Tournaments are set for May, June, July and October. For more information, call 917-0225.

Soccer clinic

Cali Chicas, an under-19 CYSA women’s soccer team with several Mountain View High players, is hosting a pair of week-long clinics for girls under age 12. The clinics aim to improve the players’ basic soccer skills and teach them to play as a team. The clinics are set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., April 16-20 and June 18-22. Cost: $200/week.
