SNIPS AND SNAILS AND PUPPY DOG TAILS: Recently, Mady Kahn’s lovely home was the setting for a delicious catered luncheon. “Showers of blue” baby gifts were given to Hilary and Paul Grenier and their soon-to-be baby, Rand Grenier. Proud grandma Lindsay Rand can’t wait to hold her new grandson! Hilary was born and raised in Los Altos and now resides in Auburn.
THE AWARD-WINNING FOOTHILL MUSICAL THEATER: On Feb. 25, in the intimate 100-seat Foothill College Studio Theater, was the magical journey “Into the Woods,” presented by the talented and artistic director Jay Manley. Like most of us, Cinderella, Jack (and the Beanstalk), Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, Rapunzel and other familiar characters were all searching in the woods for “happily every after.”
After the show, the Friends of Foothill Musical Theater and chairwoman Amy Casey held a gala patrons’ champagne reception with the accomplished cast. What a wonderful musical and gathering of friends to show their love and support for the Foothill Musical Theater!
A FRIEND WHO WAS NEVER FORGOTTEN: Thirty years had passed, but Paul Nyberg’s conversation was not forgotten! He was flying from Boston to Chicago when the plane had serious engine problems, but the pilot managed to get back to Logan Airport, where Paul waited for several hours to catch the next flight. During this long wait and the flight to Chicago, he chatted with none other than the famous Connie Stevens. To make a long story short, during the evening of the California Ball at the Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C., Liz and Paul bumped into Stevens after all these years. She offered the Nybergs a ride in her limo back to their hotel. Of course, she didn’t take “no” for an answer.
Paul’s long wait 30 years ago really wasn’t that bad after all!
A TRIBUTE TO MY SISTER, FLORENCE: You always shared a part of me that no one else shall see. And when the days and miles divided us, the bond was always there between us. Together we shared laughter, love, secrets and tears - and a closeness no one else can understand. A closer friend I’d never find than the one I called my sister … I’m glad you were my sister, I’m glad you were my friend … no one more gentle, kind, loyal and true. You gave me the quiet comfort of knowing that I could always turn to you for support. I want to thank you for giving me the special kind of feelings that only sisters could comprehend. Your love is with us always and is only a memory away.
For all that you have meant to your family, Jack, Ron, Lynda, Kalyn, Camryn, Todd, Meredith, and to all of us, you will always be remembered with love.
