PYT to perform ‘Magic Moments’ this weekend

Peninsula Youth Theatre presents “Magic Moments: A Collection of Latin American Folk Tales,” by San Jose author Olga Loya, Friday and Saturday at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

Show times are 9:30 and 11 a.m., Friday, and 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., Saturday.

The production is part of PYT’s “Stories on Stage” series, monthly dramatizations of juvenile literature designed to motivate children to read. The series continues with E.B. White’s “Charlotte’s Web,” April 27-28 and Betsy C. Byars’ “Summer of the Swans” May 25-26.

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
