March 6, 7:58 a.m., McKenzie Avenue: A caller reported that a light was cut down.

Sick person

March 7, 6:50 p.m., Los Altos Avenue: Medical assistance for choking victim.

Fire Assistance

March 7, 7:20 p.m., Marvin Avenue: Transformer on fire. Police department needed to block off roadway.

Attempted Suicide

March 7, 5:48 a.m.: Physician requested a check on a patient located outside of the city, police said.

Dead animal

March 9, 11:26 a.m., McKenzie Avenue: A caller told police there was a dead cat in roadway.

Noise compliant

March 10, 10:29 p.m., Springer Road and Camellia Avenue: A caller told police that there were people congregating in the church parking lot, revving up engines.

Suspicious person

March 11, 1:36 a.m., San Antonio Road and Almond Avenue: Someone threw something in the bushes. The police K9 located drug paraphernalia, police said.

Sick child

March 11, 6:39 p.m., Ensenada Way: A caller requested medical aid for child who ingested too much toothpaste. The child was transferred to poison control.

911 hang-up

March 11, 7:10 p.m., Lassen Street: A caller was testing a 911 line.

March 11, 8:45 p.m., El Monte Avenue: Request from El Camino ER to contact relative.

Editorial

We’ve recently covered the passing of two of this community’s most involved and committed volunteers, Lee Lynch and Billy Russell. They represented an era when people helped out, not so they could get their name on a building, but because it was simply the right thing to do.

There’s a new generation of volunteers hard at work right now in this community who are carrying on their legacy. The level of involvement in the recent Los Altos Relay For Life event bears this out.
