Town Crier Staff Report

The Los Altos High baseball team dropped to 1-3 on the season with a 13-1 loss to Valley Christian Friday at the Wilcox Tournament.

The Eagles were out-hit 12-1 and Shea Chaney was the losing pitcher.

Mountain View also struggled Saturday, falling 8-1 to Milpitas.

The Spartans (0-1) managed just three hits and starter Jeremy Allen took the loss.

Saturday at the St. Francis Invitational, the host Lancers blanked Cupertino 10-0.

The Lancers (4-0) had eight hits, three by Jonathan Barsi and two by Danny McCarthy. Chet Kasper drove in two runs.

Matt Hollywood earned the win, improving to 2-0 on the season.

Boys Tennis

Gunn opened its season with a 4-3 win at San Mateo Feb. 21.

The Titans’ top three singles players prevailed, as did their No. 1 doubles team.

In singles, top player Shane Templeman beat Greg Lum 6-0, 6-2, No. 2 Alex Linares topped Phillip Tsai 6-0, 6-2 and No. 3 Mike Sun defeated Jason Siu 6-0, 6-2. In doubles, the Titans’ top team of Sunjay Dodani and Mitch Hoffman took care of Mike Lee and Dave Kane 6-4, 6-3.

St. Francis started its season with a 193-198 non-league win over Menlo Feb. 20 at Los Altos Country Club.

John Colyar led the Lancers with a 1-under-par 36 and fellow senior Tyler Martin shot a 38.

St. Francis hosts fellow West Catholic Athletic League team Sacred Heart Cathedral on Monday at Los Altos Golf & Country Club. Tee time is set for 2:30 p.m.
