After nine years as a fixture on Main Street, the Los Altos Golf Company is moving to 325 First St. The store is scheduled to open today.

The move into a new 3,900-square-foot facility houses an array of new features, including two Swing Solutions GVA (golf video) studio teaching and club fitting units. Included will be a Nike Golf concept shot, a practice putting green and a lounge area to relax and watch The Golf Channel and golf tournaments.

Owner Blair Philip looks forward to becoming a full service golf retail destination for loyal and new customers alike.

Quova Inc. selects Los Altos president

Quova Inc., a pioneer in Internet infrastructure intelligence services that help e-businesses optimize online presence, announced the appointment of industry veteran, Marie Alexander, as president and chief executive officer.

Alexander, a Los Altos resident, brings leadership skills and industry background to lead Quova into its next phase of explosive growth. Quova also announced today the appointment of Emerick Woods to Quova’s board of directors, where he will contribute his vast entrepreneurial knowledge to the already diverse board.

“We are thrilled to have Marie Alexander join Quova as president and chief executive officer,” said Rajat Bhargava, Quova chairman and co-founder. “Marie brings to Quova extensive industry knowledge and an amazing track record of building small companies in new markets into high-growth, publicly-traded organizations.

As president and CEO, Alexander is responsible for company-wide operations and business strategy execution.

Founded in January 2000, privately held Quova, Inc., based in Redwood City, provides Internet infrastructure intelligence to e-commerce sites, content providers and online advertisers, enabling them to dynamically optimize their online presence for each customer.

New faces at Wireless Online

Wireless Online, a global wireless Internet infrastructure company, headquartered in Los Altos, announced that Robin Salem has joined the company as vice president of business development. Salem joins Wireless Online from Motorola, where he served as vice president of Motorola International Network Ventures Inc. and directed global strategy and business development. In his new position, Salem will be responsible for leading the company’s corporate development efforts and forging strategic relationships with key global players in the wireless communications industry.

The company also rounded out its executive team with the recent appointment of Manijeh Moghis to the position of vice president of marketing.

Moghis brings nearly two decades of global leadership in advanced communications, including 14 years at Nortel Networks, where she held a range of management and executive positions in marketing, product management, R&D and engineering.

“Manije’s strong base of technical, business and marketing experience will ensure Wireless Online’s continued leadership in the wireless industry,” said Greg Oslan, chairman, president and CEO of Wireless Online.

For the first time in five years, a public elementary school, Gardner Bullis, opened its doors last week in Los Altos Hills. For some, it was, metaphorically speaking, the last stitch removed from the old wound following the closure of the original Bullis-Purissima School in 2003.

For others, including the diehards who formed the successful Bullis Charter School, the sting of the Bullis closure lingers. But our sense is that for most Hills residents not part of the Loyola School coverage area, the opening of Gardner Bullis means the resurrection of a long-sought-after neighborhood school and the community benefits that come with it.
