By Tone of travel article not 'welcoming'

Your Nov. 8 article on the recent sale of Ligtelyn Travel really upset me.

The tone of it made it seem that Margot, Priscilla, Sonia and Shona bought a “dead-end” travel agency on a whim. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The piece did them all a great disservice by not focusing on their more than 20 years of dedicated service to our community. The fact that they had the vision to buy Ligtelyn also gives Los Altos the benefit of not losing yet another well-established business.

I personally know, and have had the great pleasure of working with all these ladies. Each one of them is exceptionally talented and dedicated to the travel business. They will bring a much needed vitality and new energy to Ligtelyn Travel.

I know I speak not only for myself, but for their hundreds of dedicated clients when I say you hardly gave them the welcome they so deserve.

An accident waiting to happen?

I believe it is time to see if the intersection at Prospect, Stonebrook and Oak Knoll meets the criteria for a 4-way stop. I realized that before the Oak Knoll and the quarry developments were started, a traffic survey showed that there would be no additional vehicular impact (probably at 3 a.m. on a dark and stormy night).

However, it does seem that 18-wheelers, concrete trucks and additional construction vehicles frequent that intersection and have difficulty staying on their side of the road.

In addition, all the other infrastructure vehicles and the regular automobile traffic make that intersection adventurous to negotiate.

Coming from Prospect, the large trees on the left also add some degree of difficulty. A recent visitor called that area an accident waiting to happen.

At last! A competitive MVLA election

Back in 1998, Silicon Valley was the new gold rush, Google was in its infancy and the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District held its last competitive school board election.
