Election roundup
Next year, the Mountain View School District will be much bigger and will have the opportunity to prove it is better as a result of the overwhelming passage of Measure C, which affected the merger of the Mountain View and Whisman school districts next July.
“The 77 percent support is very gratifying. It is an historic vote, an unprecedented challenge,” said Mountain View School District Superintendent Dr. Patricia Bubenik. “It is also gratifying to see the newly elected merged board members are people very much committed to the children.”
“With the strong merger vote, we have the community’s endorsement and support for providing the very best public school education we can for all of Mountain View’s children - and we are very excited about all the opportunities and possibilities ahead,” said current Mountain View School District board member Rose Filicetti, who is also one of the newly elected members of the combined school board.
Filicetti shared a sample of her many e-mails commenting on the decisive passage of the merger: “I am incredibly proud of what the public schools are doing in Mountain View, the innovative programs that are being created - and how parents are helping make public school education a very good education.”
