Friday: 1 p.m., The Fifth Friday with “The Joys of Gardening and Other Myths.” The Readers Theatre brings Jan Dobson and Joe Greenan for a humorous look at gardening.
April 6: 1 p.m., a new AARP chapter will be formed at the Los Altos Senior Center. Everyone is welcome to meet in room 12 at Hillview Community Center.
April 7: 1 p.m., Friday movie, “The Love Letter,” will be shown, starring Kate Capshaw, Tom Selleck and Ellen de Generes.
April 12: 9:30 a.m., board of directors meeting. Ideas, suggestions and comments about the center are encouraged.
April 14: 1 p.m., armchair travel, featuring a trip to the Gulf Coast and the French Quarter in New Orleans.
April 21: Noon, Friday luncheon with a special performance by the Americana Ensemble of the Bay Bells. The menu includes baked fish fillet, cole slaw and seasoned mashed potatoes, asparagus and Jell-o. Cost is $3 for members and $6 for guests.
April 25: Noon, the Senior Coordinating Council meets, with guest, Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, who will speak on recent and pending legislation affecting older adults. Guests are invited to bring lunch. Coffee and tea is available. For more information, call Ruth Koehler at 948-1816.
April 28: 1 p.m., birthday bingo.
April trip: To Benicia glass factory. Departs 8:15 a.m., April 11, and returns about 5 p.m. Cost is $55 for members and $60 for non-members.
May trip: Visit Filoli Garden and lunch in Half Moon Bay. Tour the 43-room mansion and drive over the hill to Half Moon Bay to the Distillery for lunch. Cost is $72 for members, $77 for non-members.
Mountain View Senior Center
The Los Altos Senior Center is located in the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 948-7483.

Through April 17: 10- 11:30 a.m., “Man to Man,” a five-week discussion group for older men. Topics included are personal health, retirement, isolation, loss of a spouse or plain coping with all the changes caused by normal aging. Sign up with Jim Kennedy at the center.
Sunday: 2 p.m., video Sunday with “Analyze This,” starring Robert DeNiro, Billy Crystal and Lisa Kidrow. Admission is 50 cents with light refreshments.
Etc: The center requests donations of unused yarn and movie videos. The videos go into the video library for seniors, and the yarn goes to the “Caps for Kids” program.
