By Running for a cause

The St. Joseph of Mountain View Cross Country Running Invitational, a fund-raiser for orphans in the wake of the Zimbabwe AIDS tragedy, is set for 11:40 a.m., Sunday, at St. Joseph School, 1120 Miramonte Ave. The race will feature a one-mile run for kids, teenagers and adults and a half-mile run for kindergartners. Event organizer Ellen Clark is a physical education teacher at St. Joseph School and former organizer of the Los Altos Willy’s Road Race. Entry fee is $5. On board

The Los Altos Recreation Department’s 2000 snowboard season has one day trip remaining. The group will go to Heavenly Valley this Saturday. The trip costs $80 and includes an all-day lift ticket, chartered bus transportation and supervision. The trip is open to anyone in junior high or high school. Coaches wanted

Los Altos High is looking for an assistant coach for gymnastics, head coaches for varsity boys basketball and wrestling and assistant football coaches. If interested, call Monica Lodge at 960-8857. Mountain View High is seeking head coaches for girls varsity and junior varsity water polo and an assistant coach for varsity boys water polo. If interested, call Barbara Kaufman at 940-4626.
