With the goal of reaching a long-term facilities agreement that benefits the Los Altos School District and Bullis Charter School, two board members and two community members from each side met informally last week.
“We are discussing the logistics and what our respective interests are,” said Doug Smith, district trustee. “We are going to dive deep on that for a framework for how to find a solution. We are setting up a cadence of multiple meetings a week.”

Boys fall in OT to host Firebirds
The Los Altos High boys basketball team could overcome its scoring struggles for only so long Friday night. After surviving a 15-point second half to force overtime, the Eagles fell 52-47 at Fremont.
Los Altos was outscored 10-5 in an extra period dominated by Firebirds guard Nathan Quiwa. The senior scored eight of his game-high 23 points in the four-minute overtime.

Metta Institute founder Frank Ostaseki has scheduled a public workshop, “Caring for the Dying,” 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Kannon Do Zen Meditation Center, 1972 Rock St., Mountain View.
Ostaseski, a leading voice in contemplative end-of-life care and founder of the Zen Hospice, will lead the workshop, which organizers said would present a mindful and compassionate approach to addressing the practical, emotional and spiritual issues inherent in caring for people who are dying.
Wearing the world
Los Altos company looks to shrink info into little modules
The folks at WIMM Labs in Los Altos have figured out a way to get the information on your cellphone onto your wrist, saving the user seconds in a world where people can’t seem to get their news, text messages and other updates fast enough.
Because cellphones typically live in your pocket or purse, checking your data “means taking the phone out, unlocking it, etc.,” said Los Altos resident Tim Twerdahl, the company’s vice president of product marketing, “and it becomes more time consuming than the task you wanted to accomplish.”

Driving into the future
Alternative fuels and autonomous vehicles were the topics at the Western Automotive Journalists’ Future of Transportation conference last month at Club Auto Sport in San Jose.
With great timing, the event coincided with our weeklong loan of a 2012 Chevrolet Volt, an electric car featuring the most advanced technology of any automobile in the market.
A couple of weeks ago, Tim Tebow had a good day. Tebow, quarterback of the Denver Broncos, is a very committed Christian. The Bible verse John 3:16 has become identified with him. When the Broncos played the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tebow threw for 316 yards. He also completed 10 passes in the game, giving him an average of 31.6 yards per pass completed. Even non-Christians had to be impressed.
John 3:16-17: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but might have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
